How To Clean And Maintain Your Gas Grill

Cleaning your gas grill can make your food taste better. You can just imagine the amount of fat that can cling on the grill grates. The fats might turn rancid. Maintaining your grill is also important so it will work well for a longer period of time.
Tip 1 :
Clean the grates right after the barbecue party. This way, the food residues can still be removed easily. To get rid of fats and excess food, turn the grill burner to its highest heat setting. This will allow the excess fats to drip to the pan.
After about 15 minutes, turn the heat off and let it cool down a bit. Spray liquid cleaner on the grates and let it work in dissolving more oil for about a minute. Use brass pan cleaner and scrub the grates. Dampen cloth with water and wipe away the cleaner. Do this until the cleaner residues are completely removed.

Tip 2:
Remove the drip pan and soak it in water mixed with dishwashing liquid. Use a sponge to get rid of the excess oil. If the fats are difficult to remove, pour hot water to dissolve the fats or loosen them up.
Tip 3
Wipe away the other parts of the grill using a damp dish towel. Make sure you get rid of any dirt or oil drippings.
Tip 4:
If the paint starts chipping off from the grill, try re-painting it with non-toxic paint to make it look like new again. Remove the grill from the gas connection and disassemble the parts. Place the parts that need to be re-painted on old newspaper sheets. Scrub the chipped area with sandpaper to make the surface smoother. Paint the area. Let it dry up completely.
Tip 5:
At least once a year, disconnect the grill from the gas. Remove the grill parts until you get down to the burner parts. Check the burners for signs of damage or deterioration. Make sure nothing is blocking the burners as this can hamper the flow of gas. Check the manual for cleaning instructions on the burners.
Tip 6:
Clean the lava rocks or the ceramic briquettes. If they have been coated with a thick layer of oil or crusted food, you might have to replace them already as it will be difficult to fully clean them up.
Tip 7:
Also check the knob. If it is loose, you might need to have it tightened by a professional.
